Pricing Information and Guide

 

Our firm's design services are usually a fee for use or by the hour. Our Design firm hourly rate is $75.00. However, Design fees generally depend on many factors, including the use that the buyer intends to make of the art, the size and stature of the client, the clients budget, the urgency of the deadline, the complexity of the art as well as the graphic design firm's/artist's reputation.

The pricing of graphic design/art historically has been determined primarily by the extent and value of its use, or "usage". Graphic artists like photographers, writers, and other creators, customarily sell only specific rights to the use of their creative work.

Some inexperienced clients assume that they are buying a product for a flat fee, with the right to reuse or manipulate the art or design however they wish. But such purchases are historically more like licensing agreements in that only the exclusive or nonexclusive right to use the work in a specific medium (such as magazine cover, point of purchase display, or billboard) for a limited time period, over a specific geographic area is sold or "granted."

The basic standard of sale for a commissioned work is" first reproduction rights" or "one time reproduction rights." While some clients increasingly try to obtain an overly broad grant of rights, current data indicates that reuse, more extensive use, use in aditional markets, or international use should receive additional compensation. Sale of the original physical art or design (including digital media) ie, under copy right law, not included in the sale of reproduction rights and is normally a seperate transaction.
